Morehall Fly Fishing Club is a non profit making voluntary association and was formed in April 2000 by a group of people who were interested in preserving Morehall Reservoir as a fly fishing water and also to promote the art of fly fishing. The water is currently leased from Yorkshire Water by the club. The reservoir is situated in the picturesque Ewden Valley eight miles north of Sheffield on the A6102 Manchester Road.

The Reservoir is stocked regularly during the season with Rainbow Trout averaging around 2 to 3 pounds. In addition some larger fish are introduced, up to approximately 6 pounds, in order to provide some variation in the size of catches. The water also contains a number of indigenous brown trout which, if caught, must be returned immediately.  The season runs from the middle of March to the 31 December.

The reservoir covers an area of 63 acres and is usually full of water at the beginning of the season. Fishing is not permitted from the dam wall (at all times) or from the spillway (when water is going over it). The water level falls during the summer months and fishing is possible from many more areas of the reservoir (including the spillway).

Regular Bank maintenance is carried out during the season by the committee. This is usually done on a Tuesday & or a Thursday morning. If you can spare an hour or so your help would be much appreciated. Please check ‘News Updates’ on the website for any further information
